At Penn GSE, we believe that American education schools are typically far too parochial in their approaches to research and educational improvement. In our view, global engagement is essential to our success. We believe that we have a lot to learn and a lot to offer in partnerships with educators, policymakers, and thought leaders in other countries, and our scholarship and teaching are informed by those partnerships and through vigorous comparative research.

As a university, Penn is making a concerted effort to nurture networks abroad and to encourage more innovative, cross-disciplinary solutions to global problems. GSE is a leader in this effort: our International Programs Office has broken new ground through roundtables with policymakers in other countries, academic partnerships with researchers abroad, and study tours and enrichment programs for students.
